The mining company was seeking to measure the volumes of mineral stockpiles more efficiently and more frequently. Since the piles change daily, the company wanted to established volumes at key times of production. The previous method used by the client for measuring stockpile volumes required hourly surveying rates and tedious scanning technology. The process required a professional surveyor rate for several hours including the collecting of data and post processing analysis. BMS Aerial services was able to gather the data of the ten-acre stockpile yard utilizing UAV technology in fifteen minutes. The data was then processed and returned to the client within one business day. The establishment of ground control targets allowed for precise accuracy in the measurements of the stockpile volumes. The services provided by BMS Aerial developed a more accurate and more efficient volumetric survey compared to prior survey methods.
